These fees enable us to offer the site, and pays for our DC support workshops and services, the Children Deserve to Know Where They Come From campaign and the new Dondad Registry and Services. The Child Listener™ is adamant that she ONLY interested in helping those who are serious about being a parent. She finds that people who are not even prepared to pay $20 in return for the services and support provided, are often not ready to be a parent. FSDW donors often report that the women and couples they meet on FSDW seem more mature, intelligent, and 'ready'. Genuine sperm donors will care about this- care about the people who contact them and the life the child will have.
This service is valuable, and can be life changing. Children can be born through donor conception and know about their origins from birth. Their bio father can be honoured, and recognised as far more than a 'sperm donor' - even though not an active parent. Single women, lesbian and infertile couples can choose the man who will be linked to their child forever, knowing he will honour their role as the 'real' parents. They can know how he is- as a person- rather than a random stranger identified as a catalogue number.
Why FSDW? The Child Listener™ explains
This can be the best way to meet your child's needs if using a sperm donor. Children's needs are at the heart of the FSDW approach. The Child Listener™ offers a unique service, striving to create quality family building connections- not quantity.

This QLD (Australia) woman and her partner Lisa defied traditional expensive artificial methods and hand-picked a sperm donor from The Free Sperm Donations Worldwide (DIY Baby) website All it cost was the registration fee and an insemination kit .
This amazing man decided not to donate to a sperm bank so he could know who would be raising his biological child. He is maintaining boundaries, and accepts the couple as the 'real' parents, and at the same time understands how important it is that the child can know about him. Again, not something that could happen if he had donated through a sperm bank..

The FSDW
Donor Sibbling Registry
This Registry will serve a range of purposes centering around maintaing biological links and increasing the sharing of information.
It will enable FSDW donors, parents and DC children to remain in touch after conception without having to share personal information while the child is under 18. All contact can be done through the FSDW Donor Sibbling Registry secure messaging system.
While many countries do not recognise private sperm donation this will enable men to donate without the worry of being sued for child support- however still able to find out how the child is- and to be contacted if the child wishes.
This will also protect parents raising the child from legal action by the donor- and enable them to have peace of mind that their arrangement will be honoured. This leaves them (the biological mother and social parent - if a couple) feeling far more secure about maintain links with the donor and keeping options open for the child. Under their supervision children may even contact the donor themselves through the secure messaging area. At this point Emma envisages that - until 18 - it is the DC child's parents who decide when contact is made, not the donor.

DIY (do-it-yourself) or self-insemination, is a method in which the woman (or her partner )
inserts semen into the vagina herself,
without medical assistance. This is surprisingly easy - and a useful technique for single women, lesbian and
infertile couples, and heterosexual couples with sexual dysfunction.
How to self-inseminate - what is needed?
The most important ingredient is freshly ejaculated semen that is inseminated within 90 minutes max).
Ask your donor to ejaculate in a clean
glass or plastic container. Make sure this is wide-mouthed,
so it’s easier for him to aim accurately – you want it all!
You can also use frozen semen samples from a sperm bank, after allowing them to thaw at room temperature.
Visit our Directory for listings of sperm bank - usually in the USA- that will ship overseas
if you live outside of the US
After the semen sample has liquefied (this takes about 30 minutes), you are now
ready to self-inseminate.
Suck up the semen sample into a 10-ml
plastic disposable syringe (without a needle) or use a turkey baster
- although the small amount of semen does not require such a large instrument. The semen now needs to be squirted into
the vagina- and as this is sometimes
tricky you may want to have
practised this
a few times first- using water. You need to lie on a bed, with your knees and thighs bent,
and
your knees wide apart. Guides the tip of the syringe into the vagina and put the
syringe in as deep as you can
before
plunging the barrel, depositing the semen
into the vagina. Ideally you should try to
have an orgasm during
the process- by stimulating the clitoris- not through
penetration or insertion of anything
such as a vibrator.
The only thing to go inside the vagina
is the syringe!
You may find it easier to lie on the edge
of the bed, with a pillow under hips so that
your hips protrude over the edge
while
you undertake the procedure . You can remain
lying on your back for about ten minutes,
after which you can
resume normal activity. Some of the semen will leak out, and
this is normal.
While using a speculum is not essential,
it can help, because it makes it easier to
inject the semen at the mouth of the
uterus (the cervix). You can use a
disposable plastic speculum, and when
you insert the speculum, make sure the
blades are closed. You can slide it in
upwards, or else sideways, turning it
when it has been pushed all the way
into your
vagina. When the handles are
above your pubic bone, squeeze them
together, which will open your vaginal
walls. You will hear
a click when the
speculum is locked open. If you are inseminating with a partner s/he will be
able to see your cervix, which is
round
and pink with an opening (the os) in the middle. The mucus may appear as a
clear bubble, or a thread like raw egg white.
You can use a mirror to see what’s
going on for yourself, if you so desire!
After the insemination, make sure that you
release the handles and collapse the
blades before removing it from your vagina.
Some women use a cup or cap for self-insemination. Rubber cervical caps are designed for contraception (hence the
name "cap")
but they can be used for insemination. There is also a cervical cup especially designed for insemination,
which is slightly larger and more shallow, the name "cup" indicating that it serves
as a semen receptacle. You simply squat down, check the
position of your cervix,
and insert the cap containing the semen
in that direction, holding it upright at all
times. Check all around
the top of your
vagina to make sure that you didn’t
miss you cervix. The cup can be removed
after several hours. Take care to
break the suction by hooking a finger over the
edge of it before trying to pull it out.
Timing the procedure is extremely
important, because you need to inseminate during your "fertile period".
Fortunately, it’s quite easy to determine
when you ovulate, and you can either
monitor your
cervical mucus, or use an ovulation prediction kit.

Hi Emma,
Thanks for your email. I would have kept in touch and told you about any good news in the coming New Year...fingers crossed...
I have found the right donor (with careful consideration), from your brilliant site :)
We have communicated on a numerous occasions by email and spoken a few times via mobile. He caters to all my expectations... He has agreed to start AI in January. By that time I would have been on folic acid tablets long enough and checked anything out including his status of health etc.
*****, the Donor has been a perfect gentlemen and been straight forward of his expectations to what type of involvement he wishes - which is contact when the child ( he or she), reaches 18 years old, or earlier if the child wishes it...which is want I wish too...I am travelling to him, staying in an hotel and I am taking a friend with me. W*** lives not far from the station.
I was very surprised and impressed with your FSDW site, especially too how much information you offer. I was very impressed with the information about putting the 'child's needs' first - being honest with he or she about their parentage. This worried me a great deal but your site covered a lot of ground and has made me less anxious about how to approach this sensitive issue to my child in the near future. Yes, I agree honesty is the best approach.
I cannot think of anything to improve your FSDW site...you have covered everything...if I do think of anything I will email you again.
I was introduced to your site via a friend who has been a surrogate mother in the past, so she is aware of what is involved practically, physical and emotionally etc. She is the friend who is companying me to London.
Fingers crossed that all goes well, which I am sure with the donor I have chosen. I promise I will let you know how it goes or if anything is not above board.
Again Emma, thank you for the opportunity you have given me by creating your site, without it I would have not found a donor.

Hi emma i'm writing to let you know that i'm pregnant thanks to the help of your site.
I started trying last year with a donor in WA, we had three attempts but then a family situation meant that i ended up moveing back to Tasmania (where i'm originally from). After settling here i went back to your site and located a donor here. It took just the one attempt with the new donor and i'm now *just* pregnant, getting a positive pregnancy test on thursday.
I'm so happy, my dreams have been granted and its thanks to someone such as you putting in the effort and time to have created and now maintain the free-sperm-donations website.
You deserve the thanks as much as my donor does, as both of you played such a huge role in giving me my hearts desire. Without the website i'd not have found my donor, without my donor i'd not now be "with child"
from the depth of my heart, thank you.

Hi Emma,
My name is ***, and I joined your website on Monday 19th July 2010 and I wanted to let you know that me and my wife H*** have already found a donor who has also recently joined your website. He said that we are the first people to ask him, and it has turned out very ideal as he is amazingly local to us. I wanted to thank you for setting up this website as me and H*** have been very worried about costs etc from going to a clinic. I was amazed when H**** told me she found your website and I couldn't believe that there are so many men willing to help couples like us have the family that we have dreamed of.
I also wanted to let you know, as our donor has agreed to help us, that me and H*** shall un-subscribe after our first month, just whilst we try and conceive with this donor, obviously if it doesn't work after say 6 months, then we shall join again and try to find someone else. The reason I am letting you know is I don't want you to think that we weren't happy with the FSDW services, I just wanted to be courteous towards you.
FSDW (originally Sperm Donors Worldwide) - the only strictly AI only site in the world- was created in 2003. Although controversial, Emma felt that many
women and couples who wanted desperately to be a
parent-
and would make wonderful parents!-
were
limited in
their
choices, because
of marital status, sexuality, fertility
issues & more.
She didn't feel this was fair.
FSDW offers choices- and not just for women- it is also proving successful for men wanting to
co-parent without romance!
With the abolishment of sperm donor anonymity within the
UK at
that time there was a decrease in available sperm.
Emma knew
that many men still wanted to help- but without
the knowledge
that a child - or children- could come
knocking on their door at
aged 18. She felt that there had to
be an alternative- and
especially
as women and infertile couples
were finding other
ways to
become pregnant that were risky and often a recipe
for disaster. The
safe, socially
acceptable route
- ie through a clinic
- was
often
unavailable
- or the process too costly,
intrusive or
lengthy-
for many women and couples.
She decided, therefore, to create FSDW -as a way
for men to be able to make choices with regards to donation-
ie who they donate to and on what terms. She wanted to offer
a place for kind, honourable men to connect with women, and to
make their own arrangements, and to ncourage all parties to
consider the best interest of the child. With IVF the child will not
know his or her father- until the age of 18. While that may work
for many- it isn't the best arrangement for others. Through
FSDW
many donors play an 'uncle' type role, and some would
even wish to co-parent. Is this not of benefit to the child in many
situations? A child born from sperm donation - where neither
parent or child know anything about each other - can cause all
sorts of emotional problems.
This topic is a difficult one- and there is
no 'right' or 'wrong' answer. However Emma's
concern was that so many women seemed to
be choosing one night stands, or making choices regarding pregnancy- without a discussion
with the man involved, before the conception
occurred. Men could find themselves being
chased for child support - whereas the
FSDW donors and women / couples who use
this service tend to really want this- and take
a much more responsible, educated approach
to the matter. Both parties are in
agreement BEFORE conception - reducing
potential problems in the future.
Of course there are more risks when choosing this route
- legal issues (discussed on our free info pages) health
issues
(HIV can fail to show up in a test- and show up six months
later
- which is why frozen sperm is quarantined) and more. So,
as well as offering people choices, Emma has tried to offer
guidance and support, so that people can at least reduce the risks
as best they can if they decide they want to choose this route.
Information about sperm donor testing is available, donor
agreement documents available, including information about
getting pregnant as quickly as possible- not just for the mother's
sake- but also so that time is not wasted on the part of the donor.
These donors all register to donate without charge, AI only, and
so it is the responsibility of the recipients to do her part to
facilitate a quick conception.
Emma personally replies to all emails- and offers
advice regarding meeting the emotional needs of
children born form sperm donation- when and how to
tell them, what issues they should consider and work
through and more.
This all takes alot of time and effort - which is why, in part,
subscription fees are charged. However she strongly believes
that
if this was offered for free- the connections part of this
service-
then women who have not really considered this fully,
might
decide to
'just give it a go'. Charging a membership fee
won't
stop that-
but it will make some women stop and
think before
proceeding.
Membership fees are in line with dating site membership fees- even
though the potential rewards are arguable worth far more. Of
course sperm donors aren't charged- why would we charge these
amazing men- who are helping so many women and infertile couples
fulfil their dream of being a parent? However FSDW donors- and
women- are obliged to conduct themselves honourably- and to
abide by the behaviour code. We have such a supportive members
area- with blogs posted etc- that when members post anything in the slightest bit offensive, or donors seem to suggest there are looking
for sex, or payment, they are immediately bumped off. As Emma
moderates the site herself, standards are high- and this is why FSDW remains the most popular private sperm donation connections
web site on the internet. Thousands of successful pregnancies since
2003 with over 4000 registered donors! Many of our testimonials

Hi Emma,
thank you for all your help. we are leaving due to finding a donor from this site and having a sucsessful AI meeting.
I would just like to say we used *** (AI only) a truely amazing guy, professional sperm donor and so knowlegable and a really nice guy.
I would recommend *** for any awards you have for members. He really deserves it so helpful and i know he has helped so many couples that couldnt concieve by themselves.
Again Emma thank you so much.
Hi Emma,We were registered to you last year. We found a donor and my partner has now had our baby!We were trying to look for our donor again as he has changed his numbers
Hi, Yes we have been successful after 3 years of trying - and we are both pregnant by the same donor! We are thrilled. We have met some lovely donors and some nice but unreliable donors - and we have been contacted by the weirdest members of the human race also; '***' from Dorset has been the miracle maker he is very accomodating happy to travel and is very knowledgable and happy to share his experiences (of which there are many- he has fathered several in the past year!) Another amazing guy who we did have success with but unfortunately miscarried at 3 months was '***' from brighton -he was lovely and we became good friends during the process. The only complete weirdo; 'vfertile' who was unpleasant and kept contacting even after we said we were not interested as he would only do natural insemination!
thanks for your site it has made our family! first baby due in 10 weeks - baby 2 due in mar 2011!
Vfertile removed already- but please do report donors like this- your feedback is the best way I can moderate the member's only area! Em:-)
Dear Emma,
Well here we are, at the end of 2009, a strange year, nerve wracking year, but a wonderful year.
It was a year ago that I made the decision to join your site, at 34 knowing I was ready to become a Mum. I was amazed at the response, but to me I knew I had to find the right donor for this to work, not down to characteristics but just a feeling..
On January 4th I had an email from someone, who was outside my age bracket that I was searching in, from another country (i'm in the UK and he was in Canada) but something was very easy & after a couple of emails it was very apparent, if I was to go ahead with this whole process, he was the one. Luckily he felt the same way about me, after choosing who he wanted to help very carefully, and had been registered for some time.
So In May, we met for the first time as he was in the UK, my dates weren't quite right, ovulation happened 2 days prior to his arrival. In June we tried again, but again the dates were only just within the fertile window, but it was third time lucky when I fell pregnant when he was back in the UK in July.
I'm now 25 weeks through, we have an amazing friendship for life - he has mde this a very positive and amazing journey so far.
So I just want to say to anyone, be open in what you think you are looking for, find the RIGHT donor and don't base that on geography alone.
So Thank you Emma, for your wonderful site, without it, I wouldn't be pregnant now & I woudln't have met this wonderful, generous man who will be a friend for life.....
All the best
H***

We wanted to thank you for your wonderful site. We have come in contact with a few donors and have chosen one. Today we canceled our subscription with fsdw/diy-baby.

DIY (do-it-yourself) or self-insemination, is a method in which the woman (or her partner )
inserts semen into the vagina herself,
without medical assistance. This is surprisingly easy - and a useful technique for single women, lesbian and
infertile couples, and heterosexual couples with sexual dysfunction.
How to self-inseminate - what is needed?
The most important ingredient is freshly ejaculated semen that is inseminated within 90 minutes max).
Ask your donor to ejaculate in a clean
glass or plastic container. Make sure this is wide-mouthed,
so it’s easier for him to aim accurately – you want it all!
You can also use frozen semen samples from a sperm bank, after allowing them to thaw at room temperature.
Visit our Directory for listings of sperm bank - usually in the USA- that will ship overseas
if you live outside of the US
After the semen sample has liquefied (this takes about 30 minutes), you are now
ready to self-inseminate.
Suck up the semen sample into a 10-ml
plastic disposable syringe (without a needle) or use a turkey baster
- although the small amount of semen does not require such a large instrument.
The semen now needs to be squirted into
the vagina- and as this is sometimes
tricky you may want to have
practised this
a few times first- using water. You need to lie on a bed, with your knees and thighs bent,
and
your knees wide apart. Guides the tip of the syringe into the vagina and put the
syringe in as deep as you can
before
plunging the barrel, depositing the semen
into the vagina. Ideally you should try to
have an orgasm during
the process- by stimulating the clitoris- not through
penetration or insertion of anything
such as a vibrator.
The only thing to go inside the vagina
is the syringe!
You may find it easier to lie on the edge
of the bed, with a pillow under hips so that
your hips protrude over the edge
while
you undertake the procedure . You can remain
lying on your back for about ten minutes,
after which you can
resume normal activity. Some of the semen will leak out, and
this is normal.
While using a speculum is not essential,
it can help, because it makes it easier to
inject the semen at the mouth of the
uterus (the cervix). You can use a
disposable plastic speculum, and when
you insert the speculum, make sure the
blades are closed. You can slide it in
upwards, or else sideways, turning it
when it has been pushed all the way
into your
vagina. When the handles are
above your pubic bone, squeeze them
together, which will open your vaginal
walls. You will hear
a click when the
speculum is locked open. If you are inseminating with a partner s/he will be
able to see your cervix, which is
round
and pink with an opening (the os) in the middle. The mucus may appear as a
clear bubble, or a thread like raw egg white.
You can use a mirror to see what’s
going on for yourself, if you so desire!
After the insemination, make sure that you
release the handles and collapse the
blades before removing it from your vagina.
Some women use a cup or cap for self-insemination. Rubber cervical caps are designed for contraception (hence the
name "cap")
but they can be used for insemination. There is also a cervical cup especially designed for insemination,
which is slightly
larger and more shallow,
the name "cup" indicating that it serves
as a semen receptacle. You simply squat down, check the
position of your cervix,
and insert the cap containing the semen
in that direction, holding it upright at all
times. Check all around
the top of your
vagina to make sure that you didn’t
miss you cervix. The cup can be removed
after several hours. Take care to
break the suction by hooking a finger over the
edge of it before trying to pull it out.
Timing the procedure is extremely
important, because you need to inseminate during your "fertile period".
Fortunately, it’s quite easy to determine
when you ovulate, and you can either
monitor your
cervical mucus, or use an ovulation prediction kit.

FSDW help you connect, you do the rest!
Unlike other sites that have crept up following the worldwide success of FSDW (formerly Sperm Donors Worldwide) where you have to pay to send or receive messages, you still simply pay a membership fee (similar to a dating site) and can contact anyone in the members area, as many times as you want during the 30 day period. No hidden costs or extras- that's all you pay- and you can cancel at any time. You also get a free message on the public sperm donor or co-parenting wanted message boards. One of the many reasons this is the longest running and still the most successful sperm donor connection web site on the internet! Donors also tell us they love FSDW because the women and couples tend to have thought long and hard about being a parent- and they feel more confident that arrangements will be adhered to - and that the child will be raised well. If you have any questions about the safety and legalities of private sperm donation or want to know how to track your cycle and know all about self-inemination etc, simply use our free info pages or contact Emma (The Child Listener™) We also offer the DIY Baby™ Ultimate Home Self-Insemination Kit online which includes everything you will need when you find 'your' donor- including donor agreement docs
Hi Emma
Just a quick note to say we are now cancelling our membership. We
registered in January and after a few
emails with donors we met a very
genuine donor who has agreed to
helping us start AI in June this year so fingers crossed all will go well.
Thank you for giving us the
opportunity via your website to
find a suitable donor.

Are you single and wanting a baby- or lesbian- or infertile? Free sperm donations in the UK, USA, Canada, New Zealand and now worldwide!
DIY Baby- Parenting Choices for ALL!
The Child Listener™ promotes
private sperm donation arrangements because of the benefits - if done sensitively, safely and responsibly.
This is because she feels that not only
are you likely to find a sperm donor- without the high prices associated with IVF etc- but also because you can choose a donor you 'click' with- and can make your own unique arrangement with. More importantly, this can offer a greater chance of the child learning details about his or her 'origins' and also increase the chances of direct contact. In most cases the children from sperm donation- with donor daddy- will want this. Let Emma know what you think about this topic - through her
FSDW/ DIY Baby™ Facebook page.

ported about-
often by people who havent had an 'FSDW' experience- or had first hand experience of how well these private sperm donor arrangements can work.
For example - Nov 2010 -
Australia....
MORE men are choosing to donate sperm to female friends through ''private arrangements'' rather than donating at a clinic, an expert says.
Dr Damien Riggs is a visiting research fellow at the University of Adelaide and will deliver a joint paper with university PhD candidate Brett Scholtz looking at experiences of donors and recipients at a conference in Adelaide today.
Dr Riggs said lesbians were most often the recipients of private sperm donors because regulations made it difficult for them to use clinics.
"A man might provide the sperm in a container then the woman might self-inseminate at home," he said.
"There are hundreds of women and lesbian mums having babies where sperm is donated in this way.
"A lot (of men) saw it as a way to pass on their genetic legacy, but they didn't think of what might happen down the track, most assumed their child might want to see them again and didn't consider that they might want nothing to do with them."
Dr Riggs said men who donated at a clinic had access to counselling, while those who did so privately "went into the process almost blind".
(Most of our site visitors would know that this isnt the case- most children absolutely do want something to do with their 'donor' daddy- and when done well, this distant uncle role- or even more active involvement-can work well for all. Also that many men go about this very responsibly and intelligently- and think about the consequences for themselves and the child- regardless of whether or not they donated through a clinic)
Warnings to genuine DIY Baby / FSDW
sperm donors and members
Want fo find a sperm donor? Watch out! A new site has been launched that is a scam- sperm-donations.org
Everything on it is a fake- fake photos, testimonials, number of mebers and more. They are currently getting around 1 person viewing the site per day
- they do not have donors or members.
You can actually tell- the photos of women supposedly looking for sperm donors look like they are at best looking for a date and at worst hookers.
Even Avril Levine is apparently
on there looking for a donor.
I have left your site after only a month because I have got back
with my boyfriend and we are now trying for a baby. For your information, the people who contacted me as donors were all
very lovely and very helpful.
There was one donor in particular who was especially lovely and helpful and his name is *** He has said that if it doesn’t work out with my boyfriend, as trying for a baby was the reason we broke up in the first place due to the stress of it, that he would be more than happy for me to contact him again in the future. He really was very lovely.
Thank you Emma.
Lesbian pregnancy - Sperm Donors Worldwide also help single women and infertile couples find a sperm donor for known sperm donation or co-parenting arrangements.
