I joined your site at the end of October, and after a few meetings with some great people, and lots of e-mails and
messages, I've now
met a very suitable donor and we've arranged to proceed with AI in January - so I'm unsubscribing now,
because I don't want to
waste any
would-be donor's time - and also to save a few quid!
Obviously I hope everything will work out from here, but I hope it will be okay to sign up again next year if, for any reason,
our plans fall through,
and I'll notify you if we're successful.
I can't thank you enough for this service, it is just absolutely amazing, and I would have been at a total loss for what
to do if I'd not
found your site. I'm 37, single, and not about to leave this to chance any longer, or (worse yet) rush into something with the first available guy

I never knew that a website like this one existed and I'm very glad that it does.. I met my donor through the website and I must
admit, I had my doubts. I had quite a few replies and I replied to everyone but in the end I went with my gut instinct and
I couldn't have chosen anyone better. I fell pregnant on my first attempt at AI and I am now about to have my first scan.
I'm pregnant and have been told that I'm glowing and I owe it all to your website. I know some people wouldn't consider
anything like this because of the stigma attached but sometimes you just have to go for it. Your website enables people
who normally wouldn't consider treatment due to high costs to fulfill their dream.

Hi there. I am just writing to you to say thank you for setting up your web site and helping so many people.
I have been meaning to write for a long time but since getting pregnant and giving birth to my son I don't have much time for e-mails!
I found a donor very easily through your site and got pregnant the third time I tried (a day after my 36th birthday) and my
son was born in October last year. The donor was very professional and said that if he is still donating in the future then I will
be able to try again for a full sibling. I have and older child (age 9) who is delighted to (finally!) have a baby brother and I'm
planning on trying again in a few years time for another one.

was created after a chat over coffee when I
was talking with friends about having children through
donor conception, and how we would do this if we
didn't want to use a friend - several of us said we
would probably choose someone we would never see again.
One of us said she would want to have somewhere to
meet a donor who wanted contact! We realized we would
all want something different however the main thing
is that we would want the choice, and to talk about
this with our
chosen donor so we were all in agreement about our
arrangement. We also talked about not wanting to go
to a sperm
bank as we couldn't see what the donor looked like,
or find out what kind of personality he had!
It was important to all of us that;
a/ it wouldn't cost alot of money
b/ that we could actually meet the donor and see if
this was the type of 'mate' we would choose naturally
if
circumstances were different and
c/ that there would be an arrangement in place from
the very beginning with regards to what we both wanted.
I decided therefore to set up a site where people
could do just this! Somewhere for women and couples
to meet
private donors - and at first didnt expect that they
would offer to help for free.
But they did- so many donors stated they just wanted
to help- most of our donors already have their own
families. Some
have reached a point in their lives where they haven't
had children in the traditional way and don't want
to go through
life not knowing they have passed on their genes-
even if this was to create children they wouldn't
actually have contact with or support financially.
Most also want to donate without contact, just to
help!
It has given us a new faith in mankind's generosity!
So in Jan 2005 Sperm Donors Worldwide started ONLY
listing donors willing to donate to single women,
lesbian and infertile couples for free. Our donors
are wonderful- and many have helped over ten women
or couples already!
To
protect donors and also site visitors I decided
in 2006 to change to a members only site- its set
up in the same way as a dating site so everyone
can see personal pages and send messages etc- but
in a safe environment. We've asked all our previously
registered donors to sign up themselves to check
that all donors in the members area really do still
wish to donate. Within the first week over 75 had
signed up! The Members Only Area has also proved
to be successful with our members who regularly
let me know of donors who are really helpful, and
if there are any concerns. Luckily negative feedback
is rare- but we take everything seriously and any
feedback is so helpful- and appreciated.
We
do not run the site to make millions, but it obviously
takes us time and effort to keep it as safe and
useful as possible and we need to cover our hosting
and advertising costs. We also need to make sure
that the people who contact our wonderful donors
are really serious about it- and this is one of
the reasons we charge for membership- even though
we keep it as low as possible. We receive so many
emails each day thanking us for helping them to
become pregnant- with no fees for donations.We hope the site will
continue and help women for many years to come (pardon
the pun!) We also offer a Sperm Donations Wanted
Message Board- and are currently offering a FREE
message to all our new subscribers.
If you aren't ready
to join you can just place an ad for a small fee- with
no time limit!
Just let us know when you need it
removing!
We have also recently added new Co-Parenting Message Boards- we will list profiles of donors interested in co-parenting options and FSDW members may also place a free message on the boards. We hope we can help even more people fulfil their dreams in 2007!
On
a personal level I work mainly with parents and
teachers with regards to child behaviour- developing
positive strategies, and happier relationships!
I'm also a professional life coach. I love kids-
and this is in part the reason I continue to manage
the site. I think every women and couple- whether
gay or straight- deserves the right to decide if
they wish to start a family. The joy experienced
as a loving and respectful parent is one I would
hope everyone could have the opportunity to experience.
Ultimately however I encourage everyone to think
carefully about their decisions in life..and then
all the luck in the world fulfilling their dreams!

I am now 22 weeks pregnant, after just two trys! This is a splendid service you are providing. There would
have been no other way for us. We were very lucky and had a very nice donor (as I'm sure most are, however, I still believe that no matter how desparate you are, you must still move forward with caution. The first potential donor may not be the best one for you. Try to be rational, and if you have a bad feeling, then don't move forward at that time.

Contacting
registered sperm donors
As
these donors are volunteering to help for free then
some may be 'picky' in who they decide to help. We strongly
suggest that you consider carefully how you kinetically
contact these donors- it is as important to them that
they feel comfortable donating to you, as it if for
you to decide who you wish to select. Please do not
take it personally if donors choose not to help you,
however do let us know if any simply do not respond,
or reply in ways that concern you. Also let us know
if donors, despite stating otherwise on their profiles,
appear to expect sexual intercourse rather than producing
fresh sperm for AI - or if they expect payment. They
will be removed from the site. In this way we can try
to protect the interests of both our site visits and
also listed donors, in every way we can. If you do not
give us feedback we cannot do anything to improve the
list of donors- please also let us know of donors who
are really helpful, and of your news- ie when you become
pregnant!
A few tips to help you become
pregnant through artificial insemination!
Sperm may be frozen and shipped to your international
address when you use a US sperm bank.
You cannot freeze sperm at home as the temperature needs
to be much lower than is possible without specialist
equipment. When you make an arrangement with a privately
listed sperm donor therefore you will need to collect
a fresh sample. You will need to use a syringe to inseminate
the fresh sperm- do this as quickly as possible after
ejaculation to greater success rate. Inseminate with
hips as elevated as possible. Lie down for at least
half an hour after insemination - practice shoulder
stands if you can:-) Use a kit to predict when you are
ovulating - see the site for details. Home inseminations
kits can be purchased, or sae your money and just
buy a large plastic syringe!
The first day of your period is the first day of your
cycle. The last day of your cycle is the day before
the first day of your next period. Normal menstrual
cycles can range between 24 and 35 days in length. Ovulation
occurs mid-way through the cycle, 12 to 16 days before
the first day of the next period (not necessarily at
day 14, as you may have been told) Ideally it?s a good
idea to inseminate two days in a row, at twelve-hour
intervals (fresh sperm) within three or so days PRIOR
to ovulation. A woman?s egg lives for only six to twenty-four
hours after ovulation. Fresh sperm can live for three
to five days within a woman's body, thawed frozen sperm
will live for twenty-four hours at most. Timing is crucial!
